Be smart. Be prepared. The backcountry is magical, it is beautiful, but it can be dangerous.
Keeping children active in the mountains is not very hard. This is a natural playground with many things to keep kids busy all day long.
What is this thing called high altitude? Generally, high altitude is anything above 5,280ft (the elevation of Denver). Grand County is from 7,300ft to above 13,000ft.
There is no such thing as bad weather, just inadequate clothing. Dress right for what you are doing.
