The Cheyenne Downhill
A lift-accessed ride for the downhill bike enthusiast. This may be one of the most popular rides at Winter Park Resort. Keep the speed down and pay attention. This ride is challenging enough to keep you alert and the adrenaline pumping.
Begin at the top of the Zephyr Chairlift. Follow the signs to the Cheyenne Trail. You will find the trail has loose rocks, washboard ruts and sharp hairpin turns. Be careful of your speed. Always ride within your ability. The trail will dart in and out of the forest and cross several ski runs before the final descent to the base of Winter Park Resort. (At the 5 Points Intersection, the trail name changes to The Downhill.) Be sure to always look ahead. There are no large drop-offs or boulders. However, don’t discount certain terrain changes and be aware of trail obstacles. This trail does have challenges.
The views of the Continental Divide and Fraser Valley are breathtaking. To the north you can see Rocky Mountain National Park, The Indian Peaks, Never Summer, and Troublesome mountain ranges. Suspension bikes are recommended due to washboard ruts, speed and length of trail.
