"We love your books! We pick them up each visit. They are all so beautiful and well done. They are the best guide books of any place we visit. We especially love the Menu Guide" Charles from Michigan
Serenity | Blue Sky | Ice Hill Loop
For those wishing an intermediate to moderate and, at times, challenging experience, this is an excellent ride on a fun trail. Start your ride at Winter Park Resort.
Begin in town and take Fraser River Trail to Winter Park Resort. Ride into the Resort (past the gate near the Human Maze), and ride behind the Resort buildings. The road will turn to dirt. Continue on this dirt road, which parallels the railroad tracks. Continue straight at the intersection. (The trail is now more of a single track.) Just a short distance down the trail you will see Serenity Trail on your left. Turn left on Serenity. There will be a short climb at the beginning. Your reward will be a slight downhill ride on an amazingly fun single track trail. Serenity will merge with Tracks Trail. Continue on Tracks Trail (left) and past the bottom of Lower Cherokee. Your next left is Ice Hill, a short and challenging climb. Don’t let the first steep part intimidate you. The trail will roll into a fun yet challenging single track that connects to an old rocky roadbed. At the end of Ice Hill, cross Little Vasquez (dirt road) and continue up Blue Sky. Blue Sky rates very high on the fun scale. This is normally ridden as a descent (watch for other riders), but is a nice climb. Blue Sky is a two track that rides like a single track. It is not too difficult with just enough rocky and root sections to challenge you. The grade is such that you can climb at a brisk pace and feel as though you are really moving, or climb slower without feeling that your legs will explode. At the top of Blue Sky, turn left on Water Board Road. Continue uphill on a moderate but challenging grade. Don’t worry, it will soon level out. You are now at the top of the final climb. Continue on the flat. You will pass Chickadee on your left, and then begin a downhill. (Option here is to descend Chickadee, a more challenging trail.) Your next intersection is Little Vasquez. Turn left on Little Vasquez, a jeep road that is very smooth at the beginning but becomes rockier as you ride on. You will cross under a large, green water-diversion pipe. This is a great place to see deer in the evening. Continue downhill past the bottom of Chickadee, Blue Sky and the intersection of Ice Hill. Continue on Little Vasquez. This will bring you to Arapaho Road in the town of Winter Park. Arapaho Road ends at Vasquez Road. Turn right on Vasquez Road to bring you back into Downtown Winter Park.
