"We love your books! We pick them up each visit. They are all so beautiful and well done. They are the best guide books of any place we visit. We especially love the Menu Guide" Charles from Michigan
Rogers Pass
Rogers Pass is a truly remarkable experience. This is the only non- motorized trail above tree line that is open to mountain biking. Both the spectacular views and the altitude will take your breath away. This is a must ride for the strong intermediate or above rider.
From Corona Pass Road, at the intersection of Buck Creek and Broken Thumb, head east (uphill). Climb through two switchbacks which offer an incredible overlook of Winter Park Resort. Continue uphill to the old train trestle.
You can drive to the train trestle on Corona Pass Road and begin the ride from here. Rogers Pass begins on the south side of Corona Pass Road at the train trestle. Head uphill on Rogers Pass Trail (really an old road). You will begin with a gradual ascent through pine and spruce. As the ride continues, it will take you above tree line. The trail will become fairly rocky, yet rideable. Fortunately, this rocky section is short; don’t become discouraged. As the trail levels, you are near the top. Continue on the trail, past the water diversion ditch, to the top of Rogers Pass. Here the trail ends. You are now on the Continental Divide. On a clear day, the Front Range spreads out to the east. Take a few minutes to absorb the view before retracing your route.
One strong word of caution: During the summer months, this area has frequent, severe lightning storms in the afternoons. Watch the weather. It is best to start this ride early in the morning. As for the views from the top, bring your camera.
