"We love your books! We pick them up each visit. They are all so beautiful and well done. They are the best guide books of any place we visit. We especially love the Menu Guide" Charles from Michigan
National Center for the Disabled
The non-profit National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) is one of the largest adapted-sports and outdoor, therapeutic recreation programs in the world.

Online reservations and information at www.nscd.org.
The NSCD began in 1970 as a one-time ski lesson for 23 amputee children from Children’s Hospital-Denver taking ski lessons at Winter Park. (Retta’s Run is named for Retta Stanley, a beloved member of the program who died of cancer.)

Today, thousands of children and adults with disabilities take to the ski slopes, mountain trails and golf courses to learn more about sports – and about themselves. With specially trained staff and its own adaptive equipment lab, the NSCD teaches a variety of winter and summer sports and activities to individuals with almost any physical, cognitive, emotional or behavioral diagnosis. The NSCD has a five-week program on Sundays designed for individuals of any age who have served in the US military and have a disability, and want to learn to ski or snowboard or improve existing skills. The NSCD Competition Program provides race training and coaching for disabled skiers participating in regional, national and international events.

The NSCD has emerged as a model for other programs throughout the nation and around the world. The organization has trained the staff and/or founders of almost every other adaptive ski program in North America.
