"We love your books! We pick them up each visit. They are all so beautiful and well done. They are the best guide books of any place we visit. We especially love the Menu Guide" Charles from Michigan

It’s our altitude and our attitude!
One of the most remarkable things about Grand County is the air. There is something about the air of Colorado’s high country that is a paradox, simultaneously soothing and energizing. The clear, crisp, clean air seems “thin.” We just can’t get enough of it, in more ways than one. And when we head to lower climates, the air seems to feel “thick.” (Truth be told, it isn’t a lack of air, it’s less atmospheric pressure, which gives the impression of a lack of air to breathe.) The high altitude air of Grand County demands a little extra awareness and can create its own set of factors that need to be considered and understood. The beautiful mountains that surround us offer a vast number of activities. With that comes the chance of injury. Paying attention to your body is very important. We can be motivated to operate at peak efficiency because there is so much here we want to do, be it skiing, biking, hiking, or running. We expect more out of our bodies than people who live in less health-conscious environments. It doesn’t hurt that our physical and massage therapists are likely just as active as we are and understand the desire to get healthy as soon as possible.
A Healthy State
Colorado is one of the healthiest states in the country. Colorado has the lowest obesity rate in the nation. Only 8.1% of Grand County residents are obese while 18.4% of Colorado residents are obese. 16.4% of Grand County residents are overweight. The Colorado average is 36.6%. Only 20 percent of Coloradoans smoke.
